The official in charge of #emerging_technology at the United Nations and ESCWA, Professor Fouad Murad, stressed in a video interview for the “Cyber To maximize its impact and mitigate its damage. He also pointed out that “there are negatives and positives that have not been discussed in local communities, and they relate to the #digital_world. It is not necessary for the inventions and technologies used in China, America, and others to be suitable for our Arab world and its different conditions than other places.”

The professor wondered about the role of the Arab world in the field of current development? Saying, “The scientist, innovator, and researcher must be a social activist, and he must seize the role to impose science, information, and experience that must be taken into account within national planning, policies, and local awareness,” explaining that #disruptive technology is what leads to fundamental changes that make society rich with companies and products. Traditional technology, “which allows us to choose the technologies that are most appropriate for our society, which prefers flashy, constantly changing titles while being the same but with different names.” He added, “The individual can harness #technology to his advantage and not be just a soldier within the electronic army, and not be deceived by the fad of securing #data to private companies whose whereabouts we do not know. Nor should we secure the so-called cloud data, which we believe is a given name, while it is transmitted by sea cables and passes through places and people.”

Professor Fouad Murad, head of emerging technology at the United Nations and ESCWA, concluded by sending messages to the new Arab generation: “Learn and customize your education for your local community to fill gaps and address challenges there. Innovation, invention, and creativity need freedom of thought. Be effective in your community and do not be isolated in your laboratory.” To the Arab community, he said: “Useful science is applied science. Be a friend of science and scientists and harness them to achieve your goals of local sustainable development.” To the global community, he said, “New technologies are emerging and beneficial to the world, and their side effects can be overcome with technologies as well.”
